Flat heads are becoming a problem since doctors have recommended putting the baby to sleep on its back. It doesn't appear to cause any sort of damage or pressure to the brain, but will make your child look funny if you let it continue. It can change the facial features if it gets to the extreme stage. Tummy time is VERY important for a baby's development - this is what will help your baby to eventually sit and crawl. Try putting your baby on its tummy every hour all day.

The more your baby is confined, the less your child is going to do. Keep her out of the car seat as much as possible.

As your baby gets stronger, she will stop crying on her tummy. It's just because she can't do anything (lift head properly etc) that she's complaining.

Like the other person said, flat head is not a big deal. But, having it get worse and get the helmet can be hard for both parent and child.

hi there,
don't worry much abt flat head. its not a medical condition. Her Dr. is never gonna force u for helmet. u just have 2 more months. at her next visit[ 6 month check up] , her Dr'll tell u abt helmet at her [ 6 month check up].bcz for helmet 6-9 month is the best time as babies growth is rapid in that period.
i'm telling u all this bcz my son [ 11 months old ]has a flat head [ well we were good with his shape earlier also but Dr gave us so many reasons, though they were not ralated to any medical condiation] and he is wearing it .
he started walking now and its a good protection for him these days.
so don't worry abt flat head .it'll egt better. but u continue ur efforts.put her on tummy as long u can put her.
whiling sleeping never let her stay on her back .try changing the sides at night.sometimes left or right.
hey don't worry i really know what u r going thru. if u have any further questions u can mail me at
Neharajoo yahoo com.
