Sorry have not been on the board for a bit..just busy juggling work, home, and all the Dr. and Hospital Appts. Just wanted to let you know that if you have gestational diabetes like myself, you should be asked by your obgyn to go in for a \";Non-Stress Fetal Test\";. I just went to one at the hospital today and it monitors the Baby's heartbeat and kicking etc...Its done for women with Gestational Diabetes, Pre-Clampsia, etc...

Anyhow...hope you are all doing well...I am still taking insulin shots, plus checking sugar level 4 times a day...plus following a special diet..I really hope this time passes fast, its not easy really having to do all this stuff...

Yes, please don't worry about the Non-Stress Test, and please make sure you talk to your Dr. about it okay?

Yeah, I hate pricking my fingers, I hope you are doing it on the side of the fingers rather than at the tips as its much easier. I can't wait for this to end, as well as the insulin shots.

Yes my parents live here, and my in-laws live in India. My Mom does not stay too well, so its hard for me to put the burden of taking care of me on her. My Mom-in-law will come in April shes nice and helpful, but will only come for 3 weeks with my father-in-law and then return..and even that time will be distributed between her other son and d-in-law who lives here.

What about you? Where do you stay and do have any family around you at all?

Hey Ritu.....
Have been trying to post a message since a long time.... Something wrong.....
Abt the Non stress test,I will surely talk abt that to the Doc.... Got an appointment 2mrw. Abt pricking the fingers....I used to prick the tips...but since sterday am trying Ur way and its helpful too..... Just counting the days ..so that this ends....
Its good to hear that Ur Inlaws will b coming down during the delivery time.... Abt myself...My parents and inlaws R in India and they wont B able to make it for my delivery...... So we R planning to manage things ourselves..... Dont know....How things will turn out...Hoping for the best....

So Ur due date is Feb 2nd..... U R far ahead of me then..... Good..... Abt myself...am doing the test using onetouch kit..... ITs okay.But as U said...pricking our fingers is not something pleasant...... Hope that we pass this phase real soon.
Good to hear that the stress test is not something to worry abt ..... I will ask the Doc abt it..... So Ritu...U R working.... I think U will B real tired when U get back...Do take care of Urself well.... Are Ur parents with U? Do mail me in detail when time permits....Ok? Thats all for now

Whats this test?

Hey Ritu...
Even I have gestational diabetes...... Am in my 29th week...... Have an appt with the Doc this weekend..... I have not yet been told abt the Non-Stress Fetal Test. What is exactly done in this test? Any injections or stuff like that? Any pain? Do let me know abt it....
Am rt now...checking the sugar level 3 times daily....... Its not yet normal as such.....High and low at times..... Will get to know whats to B done once I meet the Doc...... Hoping for the best......
Meanwhile.....Whats Ur EDD? Do message me in detail when time permits...Thats it for now...Take care

What kind of glucometer are you using to check your sugar results? I am using a Precision QID and I hate it..its really picky with blood drops, but that is what the hospital wants me to use.

Shannu, don't worry the Non-Stress Fetal Test..they just put a strap around your belly and you lie on a chair and they place a monitor on your belly as well to measure the Baby's heartbeat and kicking. Its the easiest test as the nurse said that will ever be done in pregnancy. Do ask your Dr. about it!

Anyway I hope all is going really really well! I am getting super tired now, and the worst part is cooking when coming home tired from work. My due date is Feb. 2nd so hope it will go by quickly.
