Name: Padmaja
Hi Girls, sorry for not keeping you all posted on the developments. I did not want to basically relive labor by posting it here. Well it was not a easy deliverly. To give it out briefly I started getting pains on sunday 7th oct and finally went to emergency at about 7Pm I was 50% effaced and only 1 cm dialated then.Got into L&D at about 7.30PM.I was not able to bear the pains after 3 cms so opted for nubain which was administered through IV. At 5 cms I took epidural and things progressed slowly from then onwards but steadly, at 8cms my epidural stared wearing out and I was in terrible pain as they hooked me up to pitocin to hasten the process, I remember screaming and crying so clearly as if it were like yesterday, my doc did not want to give epidural again as I was close to pushing stage. Nope, no breathing techniques and relaxation techniques worked !!!By then my nurse came in
and put oxygen and things were blurred and I was in and out of concentration.
I could barely hear people talking that baby's heart beat going low and I saw my Doc too, he broke my water bag and I could see concern in his
eyes.Sandeep and my mom were with me thru out the journey,Baby's position was then at 0 station. We were excited that we would be seeing our child soon but when Sandeep was called by doctor to talk I could sense that something was wrong. Sandeep and my doc came to me to say that my baby released meconium (first stool) in the sac so the amniotic fluid was in green color, this explained my doctor's concern and oxygen mask to me. My doctor said he cannot let me labor any longer since dialation stopped at 8cms though I was having painful contractions because of pitocin, though baby's heart beat improved after hooking me to oxygen it was still risky. He then talked about emergency csec, I was really worried for my baby at that point so we agreed and they operated in 7 mts and stitched the incision in about 40 mts.
When doc said \";IT'S A BOY\"; the thrill we experienced made the whole ordeal worth while. I cried, my dh cried and my doc patted my hand and said everything was okay. I can never forget 7-8 oct in life not just for Dhruv but for the love and support I got from my husband, mom and hospital staff. After 16 hours of labor that ended in Csec I am now trying to cope with the after shock of the operation and enjoying my Son. Folks we are deep into diaper changing, feedings and sleepless nights, no complaints as all's well that ends well.
Jyotsna, thanks for keeping in touch and for your support. Nivea, sakhi and mekha, you all were there for these many months and made me feel a part of the group. Keep faith in God and hope for the best.My wishes are with all the four of you.I am giving a link to the web site where you can see my son. \";pages DOT prodigy DOT net / sandeep_padmaja / Dhruv DOT html
