Can anyone tell me about the Godh Bharai ceremony...my mother in law is planning to host this sometime next week. Can someone guide me about the things that my parents need to do from their end. Need this information urgently...PLS HELP !!! Maanya replied. ur MIL might b knowing d ceremony & its requirements. Actually, different persons hv different practices.
In my case v had a small function of godh bharai. In which only the near ones were invited.
My mother brought clothes 4 me, my hubby, my MIL & my FIL. She also broght a set of dress for the expected baby.
for me a pink dupatta was also given by my mother, accompanied by sweets & a coconut.
She sent rice & dal in the morning as they were to be cooked & served as khichdi, in the evning during ceremony.
all other guests were to come & give some gift or cash to me.
I' m not in my maaika after dat as i' m working & also i want 2 b wid my hubby these days.

is this vinita? godh bharai is normally done by mothers! and m-i-l comes and gives a gift to u - gold or cash or clothes. traditionally, after godh bharai u stay at ur mom' s place until delivery.

these days, there is flexibility at every step !!

have fun at the ceremony. i did. mine was abt 2 wks ago..
