Name: worried mom

hi,
I am a mother of 10 month old daughter..my daughter is a kind of playful girl.she doesnt like eating or drinking while holding steady or sitting in the high chair but want me to be back of her and feed while she is playing.is this common in every kid.is there any way i can make her use the highchair or a systamatic procedure with which it would be better for me and her in future.
And also she likes to drop things a lot,I mean like throwing the things on top of the table or on the dresser. She likes to throw everything down, and if i try to stop her or snatch things from her hand she shouts at me or cries( i can understand that she is angry).is there any other way so that i can handle this thing calmly and make my daughter get habituated to peaceful and good behaviour.
Please do suggest me out with something ..
Thanks in advance

Even I have a 10 month old son and I completely identify with you. In order to feed him I have to take him out and show him all the vehicles passing by and for each vehicle he opens his mouth. I have tried lot of other ways but this is the only way he eats. Other than that he does all the other thinsg mentioned by you and also goes uop the stairs and tries to come down also. Regds

My daughter is nine months and she does these things. Try to put her in high chair not in meal times and put some of her favourite toys in front of her and you also sit along play with her. Make her get used to the chair and slowly start feeding in those playing times. She'll be distracted with her toys and automatically opens her mouth. This will work for atleast 70% of the feeding and then you can make her do her usual stuff and finish the remaining 30%. Slowly she'll get used to the habbit of eating all her food in the high chair. It worked for me with me hyper-active baby. For throwing things you can't help it. You have to delay in pickingup the things. Let her wait for sometime to get back her stuff back. Don't offer her anything which would cause damage to you or your things in any way. Good luck.

hello jayashree
dont get afraid and dont loose hopes, your son is absolutely fine, and give him the proper tuition and avoid more playing periods of his, and you should teach him at home when you will get free time.... - praglabh [View Message]
