Hi Dears.

I was thinking of a pet for kichu.. You know he's grown tired of all toys and books and says no the moment we show a new toy/book to him in the shop. What do i do with him the whole day? I obviously play with him but he also needs to play alone na>?

So i've been researching pets.

1, Dogs. My pe'd uncle says kids under age of 8 are not to be 'introduced' to dogs (i.e dogs that are new ot the family) since they cant really differentiate playin with a stuffed one to a real one.. Pre-owned pets grew up with the kiddo and he's gotten them in his system..

2. Fish, Fun for kich, pain for me. The heating and cleaning and maintenance of the tank are too much of a bother.

3. Birds - Cant seem to find any sensible ones without violating the animal trading act. And sanj's papa gave me a lecture about caging a bird and all that.. They're selling pretty hens and even emu here, but i'm scared.

4. Rabbit - Messy cages and strong smelling poo. Still on my list.

5. Guinea pigs or hamsters - On my list, provided i can get good ones here. Have no clue about them thoug.

6. Cat - Ugghhhh...

7. Totoise - Ummm.. With Kichu have fun?

Any suggestions? I need something that is low maint and can be carried with us in the car to our parents place (5 hrs drive).

Maurni - You've dogs right? What's your take on our trying to get a lab or a spaniel? Can Kichu adjust to small puppies now? I dont want to get grown dogs that have not been around kids...

i have absolutely no experience with pets so cant be of much help. but i adore dogs..and i can only think of them, if any day i plan to keep one...
Vani's other suggestion seems to be a better idea...what say?? kich will love having a lil bro/sis around...

Here with Rahul i find, going to the playgroup really helps.. we go twice a week for 2-3 hrs and he really enjoys the company of other kids plus new toys etc..We are also joining a group,called'mini maestros' from next week. its also a kind of playgroup but totally music based. we will do songs and dance with different musical instruments for half an hour once every week.since rahul loves music thought that will be good...

I was laughing at your post actually. How much we think! Whenever I talk with my MIL about Rishi getting bored and that I should put him in a play home for a couple of hours, she says we bother too much! She used to tie shyam to the dining table for at least half a day everyday to finish her work she said!! Can't even think of something like that... but most of the moms used to do the same those dyas since they had the chores to complete it seems!!!

I don't have much idea about pets but the other choices are not so good as a puppy. Rabbit is a very good choice too. One day at Hyd, our watchman brought a rabbit and left home and Rishi was so excited that he started lifting it, plucking the poor thing's hair and all that, so I had to give it back!!!

A little boy/girl would be ideal for Kich to play ;-) what say???? Have you given any thoughts about the second one?
