According to our pregnancy yoga teacher, best position is to lie on your left side, legs bent at knee...one pillow can be kept between the knees - some feel this enables a better blood circulation to the placenta...you can shift to the right side, if you want to change sides after a while.

Sleeping for longer intervals on your back is not a great idea as the weight of the uterus can compress the blood vessels giving rise to leg cramps and back ache also.

My mommy suggested me to sleep on my left hand side as it helps in proper digestion of food.

Well the best position to sleep in is towards your left side, aids in food digestion someway due to location of tummy. lying flat on tummy is not recommended after fourth month and lying right side is 2nd best option (you will need it sure for you do need to turn ):)

Dear All,

I'm Dr. Meghna Bharath. I'm a strong proponent of Natural Birthing.

In the run-up to becoming a Mom myself, I prepared for Natural birth and delivered naturally. Recently I encouraged and supported my younger sister and close friends deliver naturally as well [through remote advice, since we were across a 10-hour timezone :)].
