We celebrate krishna ashtmi by keeping fast the day on which he was born. On this day no food is cooked at home. Whatever has to be eaten is prepared a day in advance or fruits and other non-cooked items are to be eaten. It is a must to visit temple of Krishna to offer prayers. At home also idol of Lord Krishna is bathed in panchamrut and then worshiped with flowers and sweets.

For all Krishna devotees, ISCKON is a great place. The decorated idols of Krishna and Radha look heavenly. Swinging baby Krishna in the cradle gives a divine feeling. All through out the day prayers are done and prasad distributed. The taste of prasad is also divine especially on janmashtmi.

Krishna Janmashtmi or simply janmashtmi has a lot of significance for Hindus. This is the day when Lord Krishna was born. The air is filled with devotion, prayers and fasting. I personally try to visit ISCKON temple on this day to offer my prayers.
