Due Date Club November 2004:Feeding meals

Hi moms,

My daughter likes to run around the house all the time and feeding is such a big chore for me. It takes more than 1 hr to feed her a meal, and she has changing likings for the food. I need to keep changing her menu to make her eat... What do you all do to make ur kid eat? Do you feed them in the high chair or let her explore and feed in between? Are your kids good eaters or it is the same case with all kids?

I was wondering what everybody is feeding ur kids. Please give me some menu ideas for breakfast, lunch and dinner. What all varieties I can feed. I give her egg but no other non-veg. I'm worried that I'm not giving her enough vegetables, since she doesn't eat properly... She hadn't put on any weight in her last doc appt. Please help.

Love to all busy toddlers and moms,
CK

Hey CK,

My make sure she eats in her high chair but as I'm going to India now not sure if that habit will go away, but as of now she eats in her high chair. She def. is a fussy eater too but what I do is she LOVES Pooh's cartoons so I play that and keep talking to her and keep her entertained like (for ex. if the Pooh or someone falls then I laugh though I know its not funny just to make her get involved in it and feed her) with my girl that trick def. works as she forgets sometimes she is eating until she feels really full. Rarely this trick won’t work either but usually it did work for her. Form milk I usually take her out in the back yard with her sippy and let her drink on her own time...but if its taking too long then I run behind to make her finish it. Regarding Non veg...I give her egg and once in a while Gerber (just so she is eating some NG). And breakfast is the toughest for me (I give her Indian and Gerber cereals),lunch - we cook at home like we make our curries with less salt and karam and 1 full spoon of ghee and mashed rice mixed with this curry, same for dinner too. In-between she eats some fruit and milk (twice).

What are you giving shalika for lunch, breakfast and Dinner?

Devi

ck - try high chair with fav TV. then get rid of TV habbit. We give gerber nonveg, cheroos, regular rice-dal, roti-ghee, fruits, etc

we leave it on her high chair and she eats by serself for 15 min and makes BIG MESS and then we feed her by our hand. She likes this way.

However, her weight is just 23 lbs. I'm worried. But doc says its ok.

How much Shalika weighs?

devi - you can take booster chair to Ind. Thats what we did. We were there for 4 months and are back. Now she eats in high-chair as usual.

more later...
