Labour:anxious abt labour pains

Name: mom2be

hi all !

having heard the experinces of those who have already delivered and being a first timer myself, i am dead anxious abt the pain during delivery.

i have read a loy abt epidurals and anaesthesia and c-sections but still not able to get rid of the anxiety and am not able to decide whether to go in for an epidural because if i see them touching, i will definitely resist:(

how can i get over this fear of pain and ppl touching?

any suggestions?

I gave birth with no epidural or anesthesia. There is pain, but it is not unbearable. If you concentrate on your breathing, and take 3 long breaths during each contraction, the contraction will start to fade by the third breath. Be strong! Once you become afraid, it will hurt worse. But if you go in with a positive attitude, and tell yourself \" I can do this!\" It will be much better. Remember, millions and billions of women have done this before! (and many of them choose to go through it again with their 2nd and 3rd babies!) Good luck!

hi mom 2 b,
perhaps by the time u read this u'll already be with ur little darling :) but still, if in case u r still expecting, a few words...

labour pain or any other pain has a lot to do with ur mental state. it aggreviates once u panic, and goes down once u make up ur mind. No, i am not saying its \";nothing\";. But i can say with definite confidence that its not too hard to endure once we are all set to face it up.

As a rule of thumb, dont panic... God has created us with all the strength to give birth. what u can do now is to be informed, for it empowers u. ur tolerance level goes a lot high once you know what u are going through and what u should expect.

about touching, i didnt really get what u meant, but if its about other people (like the hospital staff) touching u during the process of giving birth, let me tell u, u would feel nothing! i am not taking u lightly, i can understand how it feels. But talking from my experience, that was somthing i feared the most, even more than the pains and anxiety. But they all turned out to be nothing once i was in hospital waiting for my tiny angel. so, dont worry, its all going to end up well and soon u will be holding ur little one close to u, wondering whether it was really u who worried over all these a few days back.
good luck
me

Hi mom2e,

I went through the exact same worries before my delivery but fortunately all went well.

I refused use any epidurals or other anaesthesia. Since my labour was oo long.. 18 hours, I had to use entonox for pain relief.

as for the touching part, at that moment all that will matter is the safe arrival of your baby. I would strongly suggest you let go of your inhibitions. Have you husband or another trusted person accompany you into the labour room if possible.

and most of all, dont worry. childbirth is the most natural thing in the world. Every woman gathers the courage and strength to ensure the baby's safety. have confidence in yourself and trust in the divine. GOOD LUCK

Dont go for any epidurals. This may affect u in ur latter life.u just be bold and confident.

RE:How to Prepare for Labour and Childbirth
Hello All,

I agree with the above comments. Now a days we can see all such classes. We have to be well educated about this Labour and other things before delivery. As I can see all these educations are being conducted Online with one on one sessions. Good thing is we don have to go anywhere or to fix an appointment. we take classes on our time at our convenien... - A Dad [View Message]
RE:Good Gyne in North Delhi
Hey rachna i am confused as in why you want to meet a gynae for your son you should instead go for an paediatrician. And gynae is for girls and women so i dont think he/she might be able to help out your son on medical issues.... - Richa [View Message]
