hi,

a small question, does ur babies sleep the full night.....do they get up out of hunger??

virej sleeps for abt 4-5hrs at a stretch at night & then gets hungry (i guess) so gets
up for feeds.

my pediatrician says that i should bf him till he is 2(only night feeds). but my milk flow
has become very less. according to her its true that the milk almost becomes nil by this
time, but sucking makes the child feel secured. this sense of security is very imp & in the
long run the child comes out as a very confident human being. my pedi is a very intelegent
person, she is also a member of promoting bf organisation etc.
but i guess its enough i want to stop bf now.

at night i have managed to stop his bf, so i put him to sleep without him sucking n sleeping
but when he gets up at the middle of the night what to do???

i havent given him bottle as yet. he used to drink with spoon earlier & now he drinks milk
from glass. (i feel good abt it).
but since i have no other option, from a few days i have started giving him bottle.
but he only plays with it. he does suck, buts its just for fun. doesnt actually drink milk.
infact i have tried to push it in his mouth during mid night when he is hungry & is in sleep
but he recognises whats 'asli' & whats 'nakli'. he just doesnt take it. & infact he cries
& also gets angry as if 'mom its not time to play with that toy, i want milk & want to sleep'


also giving bottle is not at all a good idea i guess. i have friends who have stopped bottle
at this age or r trying to stop it. & i m trying to put that habbit to him NOW at this age.
i guess its all wrong............ i just dont know what to do.

i have also started working, though i dont work for the full day, its during my convienece.
& i feel bf pulls out all my nourishment & i feel weak.
its not virejs fault at all. just that i dont know how to deal with this now?

I also am in same boat and want to stop Dhruv's BF. He is now 1 year 2 months and i do not remember i have ever slept for full night. He gets up every hour or two and sucks for 4-5 mints and sleep. Its NOT HUNGER at all but i have always observed some insecurity or some problem like feeling hot or cold or change in environment. Yest my husband was in delhi and he got up evry hour and look here and there feed and sleep. From my elder son's exp. i tell u if u want to stop bf u just have to stop it and let him cry for a week . if he gets up at night someone else(ur hubby) has to manage him and if u will be there he will cry loudly for milk. First of all he will not take bottle at all and even if he takes it will be again diff. task for u to stop bottle feeding. I want to wait till he becomes 18-20 moths and then try to stop his bf.
