Normal Delivery:Archie Can you pls answer to my concern???

Hi,

I am 26 yrs old and second time pregnant. I am in my 8th week (towards end of 8th week). My concern is that my first child was through C Section and I had a complication of water leaking during my first pregnancy from 5th month onwards. Starting then I was on bed rest. During my initial check up then with my doctor i informed & showed them that I had Congienial Dislocation of Hip (CDH) Bone because of which I had two Major operations done on my hip when I was only one year old. one of this operation is at upper joint. At that time doctor said this will not effect on me having a baby thru normal delivery. Due to this leaking i had to change my doctor and the second doctor was not informed about it till the time they actually did an internal checkup. This doctor said That my delivery may be thru CS because of these operations. The delivery was very much thru CS but only for the reason that I could not get any pains. They tried for two days thru drip but were unsuccessful and finally had to operate upon because of shortage of fluid inside for the baby to survive inside.

Now can anyone tell me if i can think of have a normal delivery this time or there are no chances at all.

Thanks a lot

Shikha

Dear Shikha,

Let me congratulate you on second pregnancy. Join December due date club and gain from others experience as well. Be positive and enjoy pregnancy much as possible from your end.

Technically speaking you could have vaginal birth at this time. However, liquid and one important thing and if that's scanty no matter what, it has to go for C-section.

I can say if you have had leakage problem and you were not undergone this surgery in childhood it would still demand you to go for C-section.

I think your hip surgery will not interfere from giving vaginal birth. If your hip portion is somehow weak then chances are likely that you could get more stress while in second half of pregnancy. This should not stress you out or make think negative on vaginal birth possibility.

It's important that you and your care provider is aware of this fact, makes it easier to handle situation.

Good luck
Archie

Dear All,

I'm Dr. Meghna Bharath. I'm a strong proponent of Natural Birthing.

In the run-up to becoming a Mom myself, I prepared for Natural birth and delivered naturally. Recently I encouraged and supported my younger sister and close friends deliver naturally as well [through remote advice, since we were across a 10-hour timezone :)].
