hi poonam
i was just reading thru the posts and i noticed that u r a very helpful n experienced person...so im asking u a few questions.
first of all its gud to know that ur son is feeling better now.
my son is 8 n 1/2 months old n i was wondering if im giving him enough nutrition.
i give him cereal 4-5 oz ,3 times a day(morn, afternoon n evening) i nurse him 3-4 times a day..as in whenever he wants to take a nap.i give him gerber fruit / veggies once a day..but he has 1/2 jar at a time.thats all...is that enough.i tried giving him moong daal...but he doesnt like the taste.what else can i give him and did u give ur son homecooked fruits/veggies or packed ones??

thanks in advance!

I was reading through your post, thought I will give u some idea.

My daughter was taking 4 to 5 tsp cereals with formula twice a day, 1 jar fruit, 1 jar veggie per day along with her regular in take of milk(on her good eating mood days).

You can try making kichdi with moongdal and give. Mix moong dal and toor dal and give with rice. I gave hand mashed idli/dosa at 8 months, also try yogurt. You can cook veggies along with dal and mash it and give with rice. I never tried cooking fruits, always packed ones or fresh bananas.

Never give egg whites before 10-12 months. My daughter had severe hives when she had cake at 7 and half months. You can give boiled egg yolk though.

hi neha,

i have a baby girl named serena...and im also a first time mom....just that i read alot and surf the net to find solution to my problems....

for daily meal requirements of ur son go to www.gerber dot com its very helpful...

when serena was 8 months she used to have almost the same amount of solids....but more of fruits...i used to give alot of banans...still do...initially i gave only packed stuff....but then she started refusing it....there is a time for everything...even the moong daal....keep trying....and one fine day he wud simply start having it....

one more thing...at 8 months my baby was having 3 milk feeds too....i never nursed her...

she started having her veggies very late...by 10 months we were giving her everything we were having...minus masalas and chillis...

try giving yoghurt also...flavoured ones r mostly favoured by these little ones...give it a shot....also u can start eggs...

i may not sound as perfect as u had expected but seriously im just not myself these days....having to take care of my sick baby without hubby....hope u understand...if u need any info just mail me on poonamjalan at yahoo dot com.

love
poonam
