Hello everybody,

Now that most of us completed 15weeks, I think it is important for us to avoid sleeping on back. But, many a times, when i woke up in the morning, i saw myself nicely sleeping on back.

I would like to know what can be done to ensure sleeping on sides and avoiding back. Please suggest.

Blessed Mom, I always sleep on my side (even before getting pregnant) so that is not a problem for me. Of course, we all shift position many times during the night, so don't worry if you wake to find yourself flat on your back — but do turn back on your side. Also try to train ur mind to sleep on the left side. Try experimenting with pillows to discover a comfortable sleeping position. Some women find that it helps to place a pillow under their abdomen or between their legs. Also, using a bunched-up pillow or rolled-up blanket or any other type of pillow that might suit you in giving you comforting sleep.

Mom to be this is for you: The best sleep position during pregnancy is \";SOS\"; (sleep on side). Even better is to sleep on your left side. Sleeping lying on your left side is actually good for you and your baby: It improves the flow of blood and nutrients to the placenta and it helps your kidneys efficiently eliminate waste products and fluids from your body. That, in turn, reduces swelling in your ankles, feet, and hands. If you train yourself to sleep on your left side early on, you'll have an easier time falling asleep when your belly is bulging later.

During the second half of pregnancy, avoid sleeping on your back, a position that puts the full weight of your uterus on your spine, back muscles, intestines, and the inferior vena cava (the vein that transports blood from your lower body to the heart).

Love,
Leo
