i have been diagnosed with gest.diabetes.i was send to dietitian for meal plan.what plan she gave me is half meal which i used to have earlier.for eg.i used to consumed 3 phulkas and little rice.now since 1 week i am having only 2 chapatis.if i eat more my blood sugar rises.i have started walking now everyday for 20 min after meals which earlier i never used to do.
but now i am seeing that i have lost weight by 2 pounds in 1 week in 33 weeks of pregnancy.
has anybody have this problem.
should i start consuming fats as i have limited their intake.please give me your opinion.
anyway i spoke with my Dr he told me to keep record of weight for 1 more week and then he will let me know what is to be done.

Sonali replied. Hi Anita, I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I am 2nd time expecting and had GD first time (Glucose test tomorrow and I am sure I have is this time too...).

From my experience, when you are on meal plan, you' ll lose weight for fisrt few weeks and that is normal because you are staying away from CARBs and adding more protein/Fiber to your diet. Your baby is fine, DR told me baby will get food from your fat stores anyhow so you need not woryy about baby not getting enough food.

Pleae make sure you are eating 1800 calories (that' s what Dr prescribed me) and lots of protein. Please try to eat lots of Bhaji/lentils and salad with every meal so you dont feel hungry. Here are few things you can add to your diet without your sugar going high-
10 almonds, raisins,
10-15 Peanuts or peanut butter,
Cut vegetables - cauliflower, tomato, cucumber
Sprouted Moong raita (all sorts of raita)
plain Yogurt, buttermilk,
Boiled Rajma, Chole,
Coleslaw

If you are non-veg then you can go crazy on eggs, chicken without worrying for Sugar level. I do have few meal plans saved, I can send to you if you would like.
