How are you all doing? I am from the April board and really admire the way you guys have kept this board so active.
I have a seven month old son and we started him on solids recently. We give him rice, barley and oats cereal but he seems like to like rice only. I also started him on the gerber stuff like carrots, sweet potatoes which did not appeal to his taste buds;-).I am working so he goes to a daycare. Can you give me ideas of what all I could make at home and send to the daycare? I make carrot and apple puree at home. We are also giving him ragi.Is it too early for khichri kind of stuff?

Jyoti padma replied. After our experience with solids there's only one suggestion - Try different tastes till you find the right one.

Some like salt, some sugar, some sour.. Once you get this right, you can alter ALL your preaprations to suit the taste.

We also were hung up about not spoiling his tastes with sweet or salt, but i've learnt from bitter experience.

Upto 8 months, puree everything (Khicdi, rice-butter, roti-milk, veggie-fruits).

At 7 months he's ready for anyhting (other than nuts, cow's milk or honey or eggs)

What are the daycare timings and how do they tk. care of his feeds and all?
