Due Date Club May 2007:AFI
2007-01-02
Name: baby

Hi everybody,
I am a new member in this board. My due date is 30 may and I am 18 weeks 5 days pregnant.

Can someone please guide me on the below query...

I went for my routine monthly checkup. Doctor advised me to go for an ultrasound (my 4th till now!) I was told my amniotic fluid is less for this stage in my pregnancy, it should be more. for 19 weeks my AFI = 10. Please advise if this is affecting my child adversly? How can I rectify it? Will this cause any complication in future?

Moreover some contraction was also visible. I do not feel any pain. Doctor said its normal, but still advised me to take rest... I am worried, please let me know if this is a red alert for me?? what all precautions should I take?

your AFI is low but not yet alarming. This does not mean it can't get alarming but there is a plenty of room for improvement.
you should keep well hydrated, drink fruit juices and eat some salty snacks, say chips. Absolutely as much rest possible.
let me know if things help in next 4 weeks by sonogram.

Hi Palak,
Eating both fruits is good for health but you have to be very cautious because banana would put you to gain weight. So better think about that and then there will be no chance of loss of weight.... - Neha [View Message]
