hey everyone

wanted to know if anyone has been asked to do the triple test.. which are 3 blood tests to determine if there are any abnormalities in the foetus.. i am 29yrs old and i guess that' s why my doc has asked to me to take the test.. this is week 16 for me and i will be doing this test next week..

other than that, my baby is doing fine, touchwood! i had put on 3kgs during the 1st trimester and now the doc wants me to gain some more weight coz i have gone through 3 wks without any weight gain.. any ideas on good fat content food? i don' t want to eat too much of the wrong stuff.. i do have eggs every other day.. i am veg at home bcoz of my in-laws and eat non-veg only when hubby and i go out.. Really i and my husband were too much excited when we saw our baby' s face.But then i decided not to go for tripple test as my gynec told it is optional and besides this test has false positive results , i thought better to avoid it. what are your test results ? please let me know. veena, thanks for the insight.. really helps to know that someone has been through this and what the reports may look like.. sometimes it can be read wrong if it is too confusing to interpret and that could lead to a lot too of unnecessary stress..

deepa, i' m sure you GYN had advised the best possible course of action for you.. it' s best to get any doubts cleared now so i suppose you should just follow the doctor' s orders.. it is very scary and nerve-wracking but i guess there' s no other choice but to eliminate any doubts at this point..

i still have to get the triple test done.. it' s scheduled for the 8th of feb.. i then will have to wait for 4-5 days for the results..

did you go thru the triple test yet, well even I am 29 and got a nuchal scan done ...the risk was low so I got the Triple test done for my satisfaction....the results showed 1/99999 risk ratio that finally satisfied us.....

My gynec suggest me to go for tripple test due to advance age. I Know that this test is only blod test to detect any abnormalities, but i am worried that if the test is positive then i have to go for further test in which there are 1-2% chances of abortion. so i don' t want to take any risk. reema, that really helps to know.. i would have still freaked out if i had read ' low risk' coz i would think there was still some element of risk.. but now that you mention it doesn' t really amount to much then i am much more relaxed.. i have to get this test done on 8th feb.. it will be week 17 for me..

madhu, i need some ideas for in-between meals and snacks.. something that will be nutritious for me and the baby.. if there is a website with indian recipes for pregnant women then it will be a lot of help.. thanks a ton for your help.. :-)

sara, thanks for the pep talk.. i was a bit worried but now i have a fair idea as to what all this anout so i guess i shouldn' t be so nervous.. i will definitely let you know the results of the test..

i had my triple test done on my 19th week
the will take atleat 4 or 5 days to give ur report ...
they check 3 thing neural defects if any, downes syndrome,chromosomal error if any and lastly nt fluid amnt (now a days separate nt scan is obsolet) and hcg levels....they also chk for potters syndrome if any
if the report say low risk for all then its ok...
even i had to do it because im 30 now... madhu replied. I had my NT scan done in the 12th week and am scheduled for my anomaly scan around 20th week or so. Next week I have been asked to do one blood test for spina bifida thats it. Doc has not talked about any triple test. Spina Bifida also examines the abnormalities if any. Right now I' m in my 15th week.

Riya I think u should eat stuffed parathas, eat a banana everyday a big one it helps gain weight, also while having lunch and dinner take pure ghee on rice, egg also helps increasing fats, other than that I think our everyday Indian food should suffice which has rotis, dal, rice, a green vege and some sprouted beans vege. Also, u can drink a glass of butter milk everyday at lunch and dinner and a two glasses of milk everyday. I know this is a lot right, I' m telling u all this but I also sometimes skip many things from this. But now that the nausea and sickness is slowing reducing I have started feeling very hungry many times during the day.

so jus relax n plis let me know abt anomaly n how they did?
