Thanks for your question. I am a Cosmetologist not a Dermatologist, but I have had extensive training and experience with skin conditions and treatments as part of my job which includes skin care.
I would not reccommend any creams with salicylic acid, -they do not use those anymore here in the US,because it burns the skin, but use only Glycolic acid products. Glycolic is not really an acid, it is just a plant (phyto) derived chemical that is applied to the skin. It comes in different strengths. Anything over 10% should be applied or reccommended by a Dermatologist who is an MD specializing in the treatment of skin conditions.

Glycolic penetrates the skin and dries out the top layers to produce new, fresh skin growth which is lighter. Continued use as per instructions will improve your skin color.
Try the products first on your elbows, though do not expect huge results. Do not use any cream or oil based products. Use lotions that say: hydrolized on the bottle although off-the-shelf products can only do so much! You will have better results with a dermatologist.
