Since my son has completed his 6thmonth, have shifted to nan-2, also giving him solids, for the last 1 week, he's been passing hard stools (like elders do) and are also little dark in color. Ped. said it's probably he is getting constipated, and asked me to shift slowly to the regular milk that we consume, as 2nd stage formula is a little diff. to digest. Am confused, as the packet milk we take is not that hygiene right. Any suggestions. Also ped. said to slowly move on to homemade food, instead of cerelac & stuff.

How r u and tintu doing? Long time no news. How is work?

Regarding milk, even Rishi's ped asked me to give him the milk we drink - both his chennai ped as well as the doc here. Even I was worried that the milk could not be hygenic and I am giving Rishi only BM and nothing else till now.

If u think u cannot give him the packet milk, u can try the milk in cartons. They are supposed to be good. My mother also says the packet/carton milk is good since they will have to have them for their life.

Your ped is right about solids and wrong about milk. Please no packet milk. I work in the refrign industry and have seen the insides of both Vijaya Dairy and Heritage.. Beleive me, formula is better..

for sontipation there is only one remedy - Liquids!! Give him mosambi juice diluted (best for constip) or tomato soup/juice. Both are good laxers.

As long as he's not going red with the pushing or if the stool is like pellets, it seems we neednt worry. I had a scare once when kich was passing green stools!!

Why Nan? Have your tried Lactogen or Dupro?
