I've been on leave since the past 3 days at home.Well, fact is just a couple of days back i noticed a slight inflammation at the place where i had my sticthes during the 1 st delivery.
Fearing the worst, i went to see my gynaec. It seems its a case of varicose veins !! The baby being head down is exerting too much pressure , as a result of which the veins down there have inflammed.Sigh Sigh !! the unexpected things that happen during pregnancy !! This is one problem I've never heard of and least expected !! So well ,,the doc says i need complete bed rest for a week to 10 days till the swelling subsides.
Thats my story girls...Any of u heard of any such expereince,,,do let me know. I'm a little apprehensive now since i want to do my best and get maximum rest in the hope that The baby completes full term .
This incident was like a jolt to me..since all along things were progressing pretty smoothly.
And yes a peice of advice...All of you take as much as rest as possible. One of the reasons fro my baby pushing down is that i had strained & exerted myself too much ( by standing, doing the cooking , shopping etc ) last week end when my in-laws came visiting. So ,,,all of you take it easy now...Dont stand or sit in one postion too much and get all the possible rest.
How are all of you doing otherwise? Sakhi. Padmaja, mekha & Jyotsna,,,all of you take care and keep posting

Padmaja replied. I agree sakhi that I should not see or listen to the horrible happenings here but can't help it as we have few friends who go to work at WTC buildings, we are yet to know news about one of them. I thank God several times these days as my husband was supposed to go to city on tuesday but postponed it to wednesday as I was having problems after the fall.
Nivea, take care of yourself, its pretty surprising to hear that the pain is not because of varicose veins but where they did an episiotomy. I heard the pain stays some 4-5 weeks after the delivery.
Jyotsna, saw your mail just now, thanks a ton for the same. We are doing okay but we are just 40 miles away from WTC buildings. As it really is in the neighborhood so the affect here is I guess more.Lot of people travel to city to work from NJ, there are so many more missing still.Anyway how are you doing? Take care of yourself.
Mekha, how are you, long time no see.
I am honestly looking forward to holding the baby girls, I know I am just about there but each day is passing so slow.
Thats it for now folks, take care of yourselves.
nivea replied. Hi everyone,
All yor support has been very encouraging. I havea check up with my Gyn this evening and will eventually depend on her advice on whether to stay home or work for another few weeks.
But yu know girls,,whats surprising me is these not are not ur usual varicose veins which occur on the leg,,but in teh are where i had an episiotomy & tear during the last delivery. Surprising how things just go wrong !Anyway I'm only hoping that baby dear hangs in there for another 4 weeks !!
Padmaja, sad tohear about ur fall. its common to lose balance at this stahe . hence we all ought to be ultra careful . U take care of your self.
sakhi, glad to know ur parents are joining u soon. Having ur loved ones around you is like having half the battle won ;)
Jyotsna, How are u doing . thanks for the tips. I'm doing my best to take care .
And yes padamja, it was tragic to see the devastation in new york. may god bless the families of the victims. Our hearts go out to all of you out there, Try Not to get too worried about it all. Just relax alright.

sakhi replied. Hi All,
Nivea, sorry to read about varicose veins. It is better to take as much rest as you can. Good that you are at home. And do not worry much about future problems. I am sure ur baby will complete full term. Even my baby pushes down so much that I have to just sit and can not do anything.
Jyotsna, thanks for the comments on leave. I am planning to take leave from 1st oct. Lets see what Dr. says tomorrow. I got to see her tomorrow morning. but here Dr. always say taking leave is absolutely depend on u and ur boss. As such my boss is good and she will consider immergency case if it happens.
Padmaja, I wasn't knowing that u r in NJ. I saw the entire tragedy in NY live on CNN because it was just after 9 PM here and this is the time when we watch CNN for news. But my DH said not to watch or read too much about it since baby might be listening. I too suggest u not to watch it. And take most care when you walk. I think you must have put on max. weight now and it is natural to fall since balancing is not best in this period. U must be in ur 37th week now. So the baby will not be considered pre-mature henceforth.
Girls, my parents will be here on sunday and I am waiting for them to join me. I also did shopping for things that are required most and now, I just have to pack my bag. These days shopping just for 1 hr also makes me tired so I want to do it as early as possible.
Mekha, how are you doing? Did you start doing shopping ? Keep us updated.
Take care all of you.

Padmaja replied. Nivea, Varicose veins are a pain, take care of yourself. Try to take it easy, don't sit or stand for long hours, also when cooking put of feet on a small table which takes off the pressure of your feet. Try wearing support panty hose, it helps.I can really understand how you are coping with bedrest, I was put on bedrest earlier in my pregnancy, it can be really painful. Try to keep things handy and take help from people around you. Take care and keep us posted.
Girls, you must have heard, saw the horrific tragedy in New york, it really shook up all of us here in New York and New jersey. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those whose families who lost their loved ones.Life is so precious girls and once you see it ending so suddenly, it shakes you from inside out.
Today I had my weekly appointment and things are good, my culture test came back normal, so that is good news. As Jyotsna is aware of I had a nasty fall girls few days back when I was walking outside my house. I still have pain from the fall but baby is doing fine so I thank God for his grace. How are you all doing forks? Sakhi and Mekha? Sakhi, I was working up until few months back and I emphathise with all the working moms.I decided to take it easy so won't be going back to any kind of work for a while.

jyotsna replied. Hi Nivea,
Its bad to hear about the varicose veins as they are really painful. My mom suffers from it so i can understand.
The usual donts are not to stand for too long as the pressure on the legs and veins is too much causing them to swell.
If u are sitting for long periods, the put your feet up as much as possible.
Once u have developed the veins whereever it may be,never massage it.It will aggravate it more.
Nivea,i dont know if u get them there--tights worn during pregnancy such as pregnancy support tights which will help.
Make sure u are not constipated and never put pressure on the abdomen or rectum.
So as uv said it too,no straining.
I checked it out as i was sure that i would develop varicose veins too..so far have escaped.
I truly empathize re your office work..i think u should be open and honest enough with your boss as the situation demands it.It is not as if you are asking for something out of turn given the fact that you are due next month.
take it easy and relax and have fun with your 1st kid till the next arrives

It's a GIRL !!!!!!
Hi all,
I delivered a beautiful baby girl on 23rd November
at around 2 a.m. She weighed at 8lb 13oz & is 21\"; tall. It was a normal delivery, the mom & the baby are doing fine. We named her \";Shreya\";.
My mom and myself decided to put our creative skills and mind to work (optimum use of my maternity leave!) and have come up with these beautiful Quilts-cum-Comforters for Babies and Kids as well as for Adults. I am just spreading the good word around – some kind-av-marketing, you can say! I urge you to check out this stuff on ‘www.indiapare... - Irene Kurdikar [View Message]
our prayers are with you
Dear Jyotsna,
At first congrats to you and your DH for a lovely baby girl. We all pray for Anandita and your family. May god be with you. Don't worry too much, I know its easy to say but hope for the best.
