Hi All,
Wanted to check if you all have started giving eggs to ur babies.
If yes then in what form?

I started giving Neha egg once she turned 8 months. I didnt know that we shud not give the white. I used to scramble egg with a little salt and pepper and she loved it. She likes picking up and eating by herself :) My doctor said that as long as she has not been allergic to it, I can continue the same.

I also started giving her fish. I give her seer, salmon and pomfret.

My doctor said a strict ' No No' to red meat, so I' ll wait till she is a year and 1/2 before we start on that.

Its been ages since I posted in this group. Time flies. I can see that we are already discussing about first birthday :)

So when can we give eggs to babies?

Because of the fact that many children tend to be allergic to egg whites, doctors advise that you avoid egg whites altogether for the first year. If there is a family history of food allergy, then it might be worth excluding egg whites from your baby' s diet for the first 2 years.

Well cooked egg yolk, however, can be given to your baby from 6 months of age - although you may want to wait on egg yolk, too, if there is a family history of allergy. The easiest way to separate the yolk from the white is to hard boil the egg, then simply remove the yolk. Alternatively, you can crack a raw egg into two, then tip the yolk back and forth between the shell halves, allowing the white to drain into a cup. However, some traces of egg white may remain and even tiny traces can lead to a severe reaction in an allergic baby.

Remember, always discuss the introduction of eggs with your child' s doctor. And if your baby has been diagnosed with an egg allergy, then you should avoid eggs altogether.

Roops replied. You can start egg at this stage..but u can give only egg yolk..egg white is hign in proteins and kids cant digest that complex protein at this stage..you can probably mix the egg yolk in the food that u give her (rice/dal/veggie) as they might not like the taste if you give only that..

i havent started yet since my MIL has asked not to give any non-veg till we visit their homegod in Tirupati..we are going this month end, so once we are back from there, i' ll start.. KT replied. Hi Shilpi...
I read from other disscusion board that eggs to the babies must be given after 1 yr...
so not yet started....
