I had my 1st scan at 5-6 weeks and the 2nd one at 8weeks. In all honesty the 1st scan, in my opinion, was a waste of time. It was too early to detect anything. In fact the radiologist report was so morose it actually made me question whether or not my baby was alive.. No foetal pole, not cardiac rythym, reapeat scan in 2 weeks to determine foetal viability.... Who wants to hear something like that? It was a very trying time for my husband and I because we thought something might be wrong.

The 2nd scan was lovely though...We couldnt see much in terms of anatomical structure...but we got to hear the baby' s heartbeat. That was an awesome feeling..and such a relief.. Things were a bit fuzzy...all we could see was the gestational sac with this faint radio-opacity inside it that looked like a small little shrimp! Thats our little baby!!! Hearing the heartbeat was really out of this world though... its amazing that something so small has a pulse of its own...

Its a miracle of life I guess :)

But i would like to know how come this early u had scan????
As my Dr. has given me the first scan date when i m finishing my 12th week.
