Name: Greeshma
I know its been quite a long time since everyone has heard from me. First of all, wish you all A Very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous Year Ahead.
Hope you all are having a great vacation..
Now, things at my end.. The reason why I was absconding form the board was that My MIL is diagnosed with a very rare disease called VKH Syndrome. This is a syndrome which affects the immune system and it attacks the systems which have the melanin tissues. She did have any issue other than eye pain.. We initially thought it might be conjunctivitis and when it was not subsiding for 2 days, we took her to the Ophthalmologist.. And after 2 days the worst thing started. She started losing her vision slowly( even though she was able to see , it was kind of very dark) and then we took her immediately to a very famous eye hospital here in Chennai. And after doing eye angiogram and a series of tests for 1.5 days, they have confirmed it is VKH Syndrome. Luckily the disease was diagnosed in the very early stage and so the treatment was started @ right time.. Now after a month, she got some of her vision back.. And now little more vision she need to regain. She is now very cheerful and she got her confidence back. We are thanking the God for making everything alright. She is still continuing with the medicine and the issue is that the only therapy available for this disease is steroid therapy and there might be some side efects like diabetics, high BP etc.. So, we will have to do those checkups once in a month. This disease anyway dint make her bedridden and so she was and is able to lead a normal life till now, except that she has to avoid watching TV and avoid giving strain to the eye until she recovers completely.
Nehas updates: She is in a running spree and she calls her Dad Ichaya ( That’s what I call him).. I used to wake up my hubby calling ichaya.. And now Neha has taken over that responsibility..She will be kissing him, giving small beats and calling him to wake up) Its really fun to watch the same.. Then she always gives kisses to the people she knows( that too without asking and sometimes it will be a chain of kissesïŠ).. The most touching part is that she knows that there is something wrong with my MIL and so always go hug her that too soon after my MIL puts her eye drops .. Now, we have moved to a bigger apartment and so she has more space to run. She is so happy about it!! She imitates Crow, Dog and Pigeon( since there are so many pigeons around).. She was so excited to see the Christmas decoration at home and we have to always watch her if she is going near the Xmas Tree… She enjoyed bursting the crackers and it was a great celebration for the Xmas..
The month of November and beginning of Dec was slightly hectic and stressful for me and now by Gods grace everything is in its place.. Hopefully my MIL will be recovered completely soon.. We are hoping for the best!!
How about the kiddos and Mommies in the group. Please do post your updates.. Waiting to hear from all of you!!
Lotsa Love,
Greeshma
