Due Date Club October 2007:Choosing a Dr
2007-03-07
Name: raga

Hi,

As i mentioned i am going to a family physician as of now. She gave me a couple of options of choosing a Mid-wife or choosing a Ob/Gyn.

I would like to know from people on this board

1) whether it is better to choose a Ob/Gyn or a Mid-wife

2) Is it better to choose a Indian Dr or Non-Indian Dr? (please don' t get me wrong i am not a racist or anything)

Thanks in adv.
Raga

Somebody from OB-GYN should be good. As long as its a female, I think its fine too! Its ofcourse one' s personal opinion. I feel non-indian doctors are good too!

hi raga, its perfectly alright with ur question. if u r a north indian... gofor a north indian doctor. im in sharjah... southindian, i looked specially for south indian doctor. because.. she understands the background well... she can advise u better on food habbits. normally diet system.. and even postdelivery care is different for south indians and north indians.i heard lot of stories abt it from my doctor friends. so go to ur background doctor. im not sure abt midwife/gyn-obs. im going to gyn-obs.
all the best

i haven' t done it but i heard about it. it is similar to ultrasound but much more clear. u will actully see the baby than just a figure. one of my friend did it. there is a fee for it.
they can even show u the gender very clearly than ultrasound. it is done around 20week.
