C-Section:C-Section in India & USA

Name: MOM

Hi,
I had my first baby in Nov 2004 in India. It was a c-section. I could walk the next day after delivery and breastfeeding was also not a problem. The stiches were not to be removed as they got absorbed... No major problems except backpain. That also is not regular now...
Now I am currently in US and planning for second baby. I think this time also mostly it will be c-section. I want to know how it is in US. The c-section process, stiches, breastfeeding, etc...
Experienced moms, pls share your thoughts.

Thanks in advance...

Subject:  C-section in USA

Hi ,
I to had Csection for my first baby in India. I also had C-section for my second child in US. It was a very good birthing experience here. The doctors did give me the option of VBAC(vaginal birth after C-section)but there is no guarantee u will hae normal delivery. Plus there is 1% chance of uterus rupture after a Csection when u try to push during ur labour.
We did not have any help durig my second delivery so I wanted to have a planned C-section. So that way i dont have to go in labour and run for hospital at an unexpected time especially when my first child was only 4 yrs.
They give u the best treatment and service in the hospitals after delivery like helping with every feed of the baby, changing ur pads after ur csection, administering medicines timely so u dont feel the pain etc.. There is a whole menu of bland and healthy food for u, so u dont have to bother cooking for the first 3 days etc...
Do get ur parents/in laws for help during this time so your older child is not neglected much.
Both my kids were ery co-operative and my husband tood 3 weeks off from his work and we all were able to welcome te new baby very well and we had a wonderful time even though we did not have much help.
With timely medicines and good food in the hospital soon after delivery I was strong enough to come home and do many things myself by 4th day. Please do not be a supermom and abuse ur health, do ur work slowly with enough breaks and have a wonderful second motherhood.
bye

RE:C-Section
C-sections are planned when the mother wishes to escape the labor pain or in emergencies like if the cord is entangled around the baby's neck and the baby's life is at risk. But i think natural delivery is always a better option.... - Neeta [View Message]
