Ladies,

Can you tell me which all dishes/vegetables/meat that you are avoiding to prevent gas and constipation probs.

Indian cooking style usually have lots of spices to add so I am concerned whether I should reduce my intake of spicy food. My doc suggested to use TUMS to control gas problems, how safe do u think its to use such medications when u are pregnant?

Waiting eagerly to hear from you all.

i did not take TUMS even once, because once i cut down on the gassy foods, i was quite comfortable. so never had the necessity to take them ,.
even i try to minimise taking tablets if its not absolutely necessary.

Jenn,

I did take 1-2 tabs in this whole 10 weeks time but now as I too have started reducing the intake of food which is making me gas its feeling much better.

Take care

I'm in India and the only thing my doc told me to be careful about was chicken, pineapple and papaya. Since these foods cause a lot of heat. Regarding gas, i've not had the problem but avoid boiled eggs. Go for an omlette. Try having lime juice with a bit of ginger in it. It gives relief. My doc did advice me about spicy foods, but i cant resist it...........take care

Sharmila,

I too have heard about pineapple and papaya so I have avoided it from the day I knew we are expecting. I also heard its not advisable to use soft cheese and potato.

Like u its hard for me to resist spicy foods but now I have my diet from HOT to MEDIUM.

Thanks for the lemon juice idea also.

Tina,
I too am trying to take atleast one fruit a day. Mostly banana, apple or orange. I am trying to cut down spices but its really hard as I LOVE spicy foods :-(

I am facing the gas prob especially when I take cabbage, boiled egg, beans and all havent figured out yet whether anything else I am eating is causing this prob. But thanks for your suggestion I will try to cut down the spices too.

Take care.

TUMS is good, even my doctor suggested me taking it for gas. i seem to have a lot of gas eating, chicken, potato, or any fried foods and also the spicer ones. so nowadays i have limited myself to the food which dont give me gas.

hope the info helps

Jenn you are right sometimes potato & chicken make u feel so full even if u had only a small portion. I also dislike the taste of cheese, pizza & burgers as they also make me feel like getting gas. How often do u take TUMS? My doc said its ok to take one a day if u are feeling discomfort but I dont take it that often as my mom is always telling me not to take any type of medicines if possible.
