Hi All
My name is Srilalitha, Sri in short. Mother of baby Kaaustaaub Srivatsan, born on Dec 9, 2004. I have been a silent reader of this forum, and would really like to join you gals. I have been reading your messages since last Novemeber (sometimes even thrice a day), but never got a chance to post a message or even introduce myself. I feel I know you and ur babies for sooo long that I felt it is high time I become an active member too.
I have read some of your mgs abt ur guilt on going thro C-sections. For one, I feelt bad that I deliver normally and not a C-section. Here is my son's birth story. (Sorry for th longgggg story, though)
My son was due for Dec 17. I had my doc appt on Dec 6, and everything looked ok, and the doc was confident that my son would be delivered only on Dec 17, since his head had not engaged. However on Dec 7, I had my mucous plug discharged, and had pain in my lower back. By Dec 8 it was real bad and I visited the hospital. They did an internal examination and said I was only 2cm dilated, and wanted me to walk around the mall. But I was in severe pain and could hardly move. So we came back home. But the pain persisted. I called the hospital and they advised me to have Extra Strength Tylenol. On Dec 9, the pain continued, and I was taking hot water baths to get off the pain. Around 2:30PM the pain got real bad, and the nurse who attended my call said I sounded to be in real pain and advised me to get the hospital. My husband was away at work, wrapping up things. We left for the hospital at 3:30PM. While I was leaving I used the restroom and then I thought the water broke. However I was able to control and thought I was wrong. On the way to the hospital, I puked all over myself and the car. When we reached the hospital my bro put me on a wheelchair and rushed me to the labour room. The nurse examined me and said that I was 4cm dilated and that I would deliver by midnight. A couple of minutes later she broke and water and found that it was already 50% broken, and to top it the water was yellow in color. The monitor indicated that the baby's heart rate was decreasing. They asked me to get to the labour room immed. I walked over to the room. By the time I reached there I was 10cm dilated. I asked for epidural, and we waited for a couple of mts for the doc, but the heart rate was dropping. So, they asked me to push. Within 5 pushes, and with the help of a suction, my son popped out like a dolphin at 5:26PM. The drs did not want my son to cry, lest ths maconium would be swallowed further. So, he was rushed to the nursery, put on the oxygen, and antibiotics. In the process I had a 4th degree tear. I was on tubes to pee and poop for 2 days. I saw my son only after 24hrs when the tubes could be tied around a walker. I was discharged after 3 days and my son after a week. I was on sitz bath and my tear healed.
But after 6 weeks I started having a funny feeling that I was farting through my vagina. My mom said that maybe there was air trapped in the uterus because of the tear. The doc advised me to wait and see for a couple of mnths. The prob still persisted. I was diagnosed in May for a condition called \";RECTO VAGINAL FISULATE\";, where I have a tear internally betn my vagina and rectum. So, when I fart, it comes through my vagina, and I have no control over it. MY dr says I might also have some accident where I poop thro my vagina. And because of all this I have yeast infection in my vagin every other week. The only solution for this a surgery. But however, the drs want to give it a couple of mnths more to make sure that surgery is the only alternative.
When I look back, I feel a C-section would have been better. Surgery or no surgery, shd I go for one more baby, I have to have only a C-section since I cannot deliver normally any longer.
Sorry for this long mail. (Phew, it feels relieved like getting something off my chest.)
