Hi all,
Vrisa has had a cold since last Saturday. We took her in to see her Ped yesterday and he thinks she may have a viral infection since she has some rash on her back and her neck. She is heavily stuffed up in her nose but other than that she seems to be in good spirits and is feeding relatively well. Any thoughts on what may be going on with her and what I can do to ease her congestion?

Tough time for lil Vrisa? I have found the following effective for Kich.

1. A towel dipped in very hot water, shown under his nose for him to inhale the heat. (show it around their mouth also)
2. Vicks inhaler (or Vicks in my fingers, under Kich's nose
3. A bit of steam, thoruhg a thin cloth (Just for a minute, to ease their taut face muscles)
4. Lukewarm liquids (Formula, water and dal paani)

Reena's trick of saline+tummy time is really good too...

I thought I had to write as this cold thing seems to be present cross border(in Canada) too.My 11 month old son and myself have been having a bad cough and a worse cold for the last couple of days.He has a runny nose.I have been giving him benylin cold/cough syrup every six hours and he is slowly improving.His ped said that it was a virus.

Hi Maurni- you may have already tried this but still.....I always put the saling drops ''Little Noses'' when Rishu nose is blocked and after a few secs I give him tummy time. Due to the pressure coz of laying on his tummy everything comes out from his nose instantly and his nose becomes totally clear...try this if you already havent...
