Hi all (specially Paddu, Vani and Raj)- as I know it all of you are from the South, to tumlogon ki Hindi itni acchi kaise hain yaar..I mean you guys also know all the slangs and all..I have often wondered so am asking now...for eg I grew up in Cal so know Bengali very well though ghar mein Hindi mein baat hota hain. Lekin tum to Hyderabad ya Chennai mein ho to wahan to Hindi nahi bola jaata to how do you all speak so well? Well, you might think this is a stupid thing to think about but I was wondering as I appreciate people who know different languages....great yaar...

Hi Reena,

I was born and brought up in Tamilnadu and education was fully in a small town and there was no chance to learn Hindi. But daddy put me and my sis in a Hindi class and I had interest to pass just Madhyama. I hate the grammar and essay writing and all those stuff in Hindi :(

Later we moved to Chennai and started watching Hindi movies and so I will be able to understand but I cannot speak back very fluently. Sometimes I used to feel inferior too when you guys write in Hindi... :):) I am slowly picking up now talking to my maid and the autowaalas in Hyderabad.

Good that Paddoo knows Tamil :)

Take care and lots of love to Rishu. Have fun in your trip to SFO.

Love,
Vani

Hi Reens,

I've had northies for neighbours, my 'bro's best friend is from Gorakhpur, my dad was travelling all over the north when we were <10 and now, my hubby -born and grew up in Jaipur.

We used to watch Buniyaad, Humlog Tamas etc. on TV back then!!

We picked up Hindi when we were pretty young 'coz of my neighbours and bhai's friend. All slang etc. was used so liberally then, ki bahut mast tha.

I am good with languages even otherwise.. I can speak Mallu, Tamil and Telugu other than Eng and Hindi. I'm also an avid traveller, and you need to sound like a native if you dont want to be boozled.

So there you are!!

Love n kisses to Rishabhji.. You take care

Paddoo
