Name: Doubty

I am reading conflicting reports about whether to eat/not eat dates during pregnancy. I asked my GYNEC yesterday, and she said YES, you can eat. But still I' have few doubts. Does anyone have the concrete reason why to eat/noteat dates. Please clarify thanks.

Hi doubty,

Normally they say that any food which produces heat in the body should not be eaten till the 8th month of pregnancy...since dates produce heat this is suggested to be avoided. But in moderate quantity can be consumed. Alternatively you can get good amount of Iron from Munaka (big form of kishmish with seed). Soak 8 of them every night and eat them in the morning and also drink the soaked water. See the diff in your heamoglobin level.

hi
This is one of the fads of pregnancy. Oldies say dates produce heat in the body so they shouldn' t be eaten. But the fact is dates are not only high in calories but they also provide good amt of iron and fibre to the diet. So eat them but not after a meal but in between. i have low heamoglobin so i eat 2-3 dates everyday. No problem till now.
