hi,

i am 23 year old girl going to tirumala for tonsure alongwith my amma and sister,please tell me all the other places in tirumala where we can get tonsured other than kalyan katta.i heard that there are many small kalyan kattas located at tirumala,can anyone tell me there location,do the barbers come at your cottage and tonsure you,please tell.

near by thirumal kalahasthi is there its for naga thosham its very famous.nearby the tirupathi hill papavinasham is there its like a thertham

Yes there are many places where you can get yourself tonsured and here are the options....
1 > The FREE kalyana katta, the mother of all kalyana katta's where more than 3000 barbers are available round the clock, there is no money payed to the barbers, but the queue will be slightly big...
2 > If you are allocated cottages, then most cottages have smaller kalyana katta's there, where the barbers shave for a small fee of Rs 10 /- token must be purchased at the entrance...
3 > You will find barbers generally walking all over the place on the hill, you can catch hold of one of them and get your head shaved in the cottage rooms itself....
There are the three options at Tirumala.... I would suggest you get the shaving done at the cottage kalyana katta, since ruch is less and the barber will shave with a little more care since he is payed additionally.... You can ask him to shave closely and probably some more money.. If he is happy with the money you give him, may be another Rs 20/- he will apply detol water after the shave (to avoid any infections) and then even apply sandle wood paste to your freshly shaven head....
