hello frn
my baby boy is 23 mon old and i want to stop him frm breast feeding , he used to cry and ask for it when i used to divert him frm it, please help me for the matter

hi pratibha,
i know its difficult to wean(stop breastfeeding) especially if the child has already celebrated his first birthday..my son is 17 months and i stop breastfeeding just recently... and it was challenging... here r some tips....1) u need some help from other person: child' s father or any family member...
2) stop slowly: one feeding at a time.. it is easy to stop feeding during day time as u can divert him to other activities or food...
3) once u r completely off during day time.. start reducing the number of times he takes night time.. for this u need support from other person.... in my case, my husband used to rock him and offer him some water whenever he used to cry for nursing... it was not easy but few sleepless nights really help... and rule of thumb: feed the baby properly during day time so he won' t be hungry during night... and don' t give up.... in our case it took a week for stopping night time...
