hey....can anyone help me in deciding to join back office or to look after my 6 months old baby...I have a good (full time) caretaker for him who takes care of him and kitchen work very efficiently and I m left with very little to do full day long , I earlier was on a senior and very good post in garment industry and sitting at home makes me feel very low....please help me in taking decession.I don' t have mother in law or father in low.

prao replied. While there is a lot to be said abt the advantages of having the mother spend all her time with the kid, the mothers well being and career aspirations are also important..
It is really a personal decision.. If everything at home is under control and u want to get back to work .. then you should
If you have the option start by going part time, then when your child is a little older u can return full time..

It is my personal opinion that it is better to stay at home till the child turns one as this is the time when they need most attention.. others feel 6 months is sufficient and once the child has been weaned to solids mother can return to work.. still other feel it' s best to be with the child till he/she starts school at 2.5 or 3

I returned to work when my daughter turned one, the first few months were very difficult for me.. I was so guilty all the time.. my daughter adjusted surprisingly well.. like u I have a good maid at home and no family members who can stay full time with us. When I go home in the evening she clings to me and refuses to go to anybody else.. but when I' m not at home she is happy with the maid.. (I have neighbors checking on her once in a while) she eats her meals, plays, sleeps etc..
I try to go home early and when I' m at home all my time is for her.. on the weekends I do everything for her even though the maid is there.. I adjust all my weekend work (and trust me.. working moms have a lot of house work on the weekend) such that it is done when she is sleeping or I can take her with me..

So all I can say to u is try to stay a little longer with the baby if possible.. after all u wont get these leisurely days with a little baby back... if not good luck.. work and a baby r manageable if u have a good support system and mentally prepared
