Crying & Colic:Gas Trouble

Hi
May baby Gayatri is 2 months old. She is breastfed once in 3 hours and some times more frequently. The problem is it appears to me that she is not taking the milk in full. Also from a couple of weeks she cries a lot during the feed. She lets out lot of gas from the rear. And is relieved only after a burp or two after the feed. She also spits/vomits invariable after every feed from last week or so. Is such behaviour common. Can I do something at home before going to the doctor.

if your baby cries during the feed and is pulling away from the breast, it might be feflux. Spillung and vomitting is normal to certain extent, but if baby is spilling more than half if her feed and the vomiting is projectile them you need to see a doctor. Also obcerve the weight of your baby. About 20 to 25 gms a day is a good wt gain. You can also take a look at this website on reflux www.cryingoverspiltmilk.co.nz
AND PLEASE DO NOT TRY ANY HOME REMEDIES, WE ARE GOUNG TOWARDS 22ND CENTURY NOT 18TH!!!
Reaserch says that baby's under the age of one year should not be given any sugar, salt or honey as there digestive system is not strong enough.

Anyway good luck and take care

First thing, dont hesitate to take her to the doc, even for apparently silly reasons.

Now back to your query... gas is normal.. it will be for atleast 6 months. Try giving her gripe water. If the gas trouble is causing her to cry and not get sleep you could try carmicide (get your doctors okay for it).

Also, it is very important to burp her after every feed. If she is throwing up, you can break the feeds and burp her during the break. The break can be only for 5 minutes or so. also during feed and immediately afterwards, make sure the head is higher than the body.

hope this helps.

Hi, my son is 1 month old now. he used to have lot of stomach cramps earlier and did spit/vomit a lot also. i saw the doctor, and he said that my boy might be suffering from Acid reflux. i started his prescription after that, and gave him for 1 week. and also gave him gripe water and applied hing when he had stomach cramps. now since last week i'm not giving him his prescription and have been continuing on gripe water twice a day. since last two days he had been vomiting after i feed him in the evening. and is crying a lot during the feeding.
i also gave him some fenugreek water with sugar.
someone mentioned that he may be overfed.I've heard that babies usually give a message whenever they are done while feeding. Can it be possibe that he's being overfed?
Can someone help....
