Hi All,

I have developed a weird anxiety recently which is only got worse ...

I am always worried that I might get stomach cramps and feel the need to use rest room urgently. So I hate to go to places which are new to me or places where I donot know the availability of rest rooms.

Similarly I hate to get in to situations where I cant get out quickly .. like waiting in a queue or bus travels for long time or eating in small restaurants ...etc

I am otherwise a very normal person .. working in an MNC .. married and have a kid and do all my duties very well .

But only I get to some new places I start getting so anxious that I get stomach cramps .. Its become a vicious cycle and I donot know what comes first stomach cramps or anxiety !!!

From past few months its becomes so often that I avoid even fun activities like eating out .. long drives .. or shopping in any places (apart from malls ) and am always giving excuses !

This is making me very upset internally and I donot know how and when I got into such anxiety .. I am now worried if its going to hinder my day to day activities as well like going to gym or dropping kid to school bcoz I am having second thoughts on should I go or am I getting cramps again and its all depressing me to the core as I am losing out on so much fun as my mind is always restless ...

I just feel like weeping .. I cant even share it with anyone as I feel too embarrassed !

Anybody who wants to share any anxiety or any suggesstions .. Welcome !

verne replied. might be suffering from panic attacks or anxiety disorder.
Avoid caffiene, and stressful situations.
Most Importantly, Consult a Psychiatrist IMMEDIATELY to get rid of this problem. If you dont recieve timely help, this condition will WORSEN.
Trust me, this is a condition that has happened to me, and i took timely treatment. I still suffer from anxiety sometimes, like you do, anxiety in new places. But i know how to deal with it. Other people are not so unfortunate, and their problems have worsened.
Please try to convince your doctor to give you cognitive behaviour therapy, this will help you immensely, this is the best therapy for this condition i believe.
Even though i am a doctor, i dont believe medications should be given in your case, but slight medications might be given to give impetus to your treatment. But please refuse any anti-depressants if your doctor prescribes them. anon. replied. Hi,
why do you worry for this silly thing. Check out with a doctor if you really have some serious cramps. Mentally be strong. Unnecesarily dont panic and be happy.
