Baby Club July-September 2007:Confused

Hi All,

Hope u all are doing well.
I am very much confused with the different opinion of doctor' s. When Aarush was sick due to ulcer in his mouth, doctor told me to get a walker for him. He said it will prevent the germs not to go in his mouth via his hands as he was crawling whole day. We got a walker for him. Earlier he was not sitting in it but after 4-5 day now he had started walking with walker. He learnt the technique that how to push and move it. Yesterday he fell from the walker and vomited. We called another doc (sunita' s paed). He told that we don’t recommend walker for such small kid. Throw the walker away.
One more thing. When Aarush was sick one Dr said until the fever is not 101 dont give crocin, other said when its 100 and the third one said when its 99. I am so much confused..
Why there is so much contradiction between the doctors.
What you all have to say...
Anyways Aarush is fine.
bye

Hi KT..i know what u mean..i think its good to stick to one doctor who you trust the most..usually when u meet someone, you would get an impressions abt them..usually mother' s instinct dont go wrong..so if u feel that a doc is best and will do whats right for ur baby, stick with that doc..

ofcourse in certain situation u need a secong opinion..always try to get some feedback from people abt the doc when u go to them..
and now internet has soo much info..any question can be answered by a search, so try that tooo..

Here' s the common guideline that i have read:
Common guidelines are:
• If your baby is less than 3 months old and has a temperature of 100.4 degrees F (38 degrees C) or higher, call the doctor immediately. A baby this young needs to be checked for serious infection or disease.

• For a baby between 3 and 6 months old, call if his temperature reaches 101 degrees F (38.3 degrees C) or higher.

• If your baby is 6 months or older, call if his fever reaches 103 degrees F (39.4 degrees C) or higher.

And about the walker..its better to wait till their legs are little strong..may be once they start standing on their own..
