Due Date Club January 2005:Activities for baby's development ?

Hi Girls (or should i say moms - ab toh hum budhdhe ho gaye na:)),
I was wondering what are the activities our little ones should do for their physical and mental development at this age ?

Megha usually is happy with either her crib mobile..she keeps talking to the bunnies on it ....or she plays with her musical Gym while she is sitting on her bouncer...She even stays quiet when she's just on the bouncer in the kitchen with me...observing god knows what : )
Somehow she hates tummy time...starts screaming after 3-4 minutes .

Bas that's about all...i try to keep singing to her and she likes that .
Please share your baby's activities too...let's see if we can get any more ideas to keep the little one's busy .
love
KOmal

Hi All,
Thanks a lot for the cool ideas..Maurni, as you had suggested ,I started reading books to her since yesterday..she loved her musical book and was reaching out for the lights and buttons in it. And Vani,I love talking to her and she even replies back with all kinds of sounds and expresions like raising her eyebrows,smiling....opening and closing her lips as if she understands everything..i tell her stories about our families,etc,etc....par kabhi kabhi it gets tiring.
Sush will try the balloon idea soon ...have been making her sit in the balcony with me since last 2 days...she enjoys it but somehow stays a little confused..finally getting to see the real world :)
Haan my Dad retired from indian Navy just about 2 years back..why did you ask this question ...anything familiar ?

Chalo take care and love to your sweeties.

Hi Komal
Hey the thot is great about sharing this...the thing about talking & books is the bestest..I also prop board books around Tia during diaper change & oil masasage ..also loosley tie a helium balloon around her ankle(she usually wears overalls so the string is over her dress) & Tia freaks on the balloon as it swings up & down as she kicks it..I got these huge smiley faced balloon so she also has a face to look to !
I also leave her upright in her stroller in the balcony so she can watch something else & also hear the kids playing downstairs(boistorous sardarji's who play basketball or fight !!) & of course the icecream van & its cute music..
btw..Komal...is/was your dad in the defence services ?

Hi Komal,

Here in India Rishi has a lot of people to entertain him. As such my dad and mom are at home. His aunty and all will come atleast once a day talk to him and go.

I have heard that its very important to keep talking to the baby, than allowing her to entertain herself in bouncres, crib etc.
Ofcourse, being alone with the baby, you cannot be with her all the time, but try talking to her as much as possible. Rishi will respond to all that we atalk.

take care.more later.

love to megs and you.

vani

Sounds like the same thing going on with Vrisa. I read to her more as she is getting older. U have board books, big and small with lots of pictures on them and she finds those fascinating but only for short periods. She loves me singing and also is the same on her bouncer when she hums to her little animals. I am taking her to excercise classes with me where they teach us how to excercise with the baby. Vrisa, thank god, is only 10 lbs so I can use her as weights and don't suffer too much. She enjoys being a part of my workout and I get to feel a little fit.
