Name: lavanya my in laws want me to go for a head tonsure.i have thick long hair .they had taken vow that after my sis in laws wedding we all would have ahead tonsure.even my sis in law is having tonsure alongwith her family.please give me courage i am very scared .i have taken great care for growing my hair.i oil them daily and keep them clean i don'tknow how will they shave myhair at tirumala .please help?

Hello Lavanya,
As it was not your vow, Try convincing your in-laws. If it doesn't work, don't worry. The thought of loosing all that thick long hair makes you worry first. But you will get used to it soon. I did my tonsure a few days back. I had thick & knee length hair. I was worried first but after the shave it was different only for 2 days. Now I got used to it. When are you supposed to do that?

it is very kind of you to keep on writing to me.after reading your experiance and the cause for which you had taken vow of head tonsure i feel very proud of you and your friends.hearing your exp i feel now that i should go for head tonsure for the sake of my family.but i hope i don't have problem in growing back my hair because as in your case i don't have the previlage of heridetory long hair.my mom and sister both have shoulder length hair and in fact both of them would ask me to cut the hair whenever i had lice as they would get them too from my hair.in your family all of had long hair sorry to ask but didn't you had the problem of lice and nits and what precaution or remedy you used to do for the lice and nit problem.vidya in your messages i also read manasa's messages can you ask her to write to me.and did you really exchanged your snaps on your email ids if so can you do that on my email id please keep writing.

Hello Lavanya,
You are welcome. You are not boring me. I too got the courage for my tonsure by discussing it in this website. I worte my experience in this site. Please go through it. I got my tonsure along with two of my friends. One of my friends was in a serious accident. I took a vow to shave my head if my friend is out of danger. She was out of danger & so I got the tonsure. My friends did it for the same reason. I didn't take any special care when I had my long hair. I think it was heridetory. My mother, my aunts & my grand mothers..etc., all have long hair. I am planning to grow it back. When one my aunts had a headshave 5 years back, her hair was not growing in a regular shape. So after growing it well below the shoulder, she had a bob cut & after that her hair was in right shape. Now she has waist length of hair. I probably will do the same if the same thing happens to me.

thanks for writing hope i am boring you by writing.but it feels better writing to you i hink i have to go for tonsure anyway now because if not everybody would be otherwise sad.please share your experiance with me if possible.did you have company for head tonsure why did you go for it.before tonsure what hair care did you take for your such long hair.after going to hyderabad do you plan to grow your hair long.

Lavanya,
I started going out without covering my head. I came to my grand parent's village after the tonsure. So all new people around here for me. My cousin & my grand parents made fun of me for a couple of days & I also started enjoying their jokes on me. I got used to it now. I miss all that hair & the care I take. I am not taking any special care now to grow it back. I would like to do that when I go back to hyderabad. Please contact me at vidyayvb(at)yahoo(dot)com if you like to.

thanks vidya,my in laws are not listening and we are supposed to go to tirumala in january.how are you feeling after the tonsure.do you go out without covering your head.what is the reaction of people.are you takinng any special care to grow back your hair.you know what i will miss most.as i had long hair someone in the famly would oil my hair, plait them and i also would like it when my mom or my sis would do lice and nit picking from my hair to keep them clean.do you miss those things.please write .
