Hi! Friends..I am from Dec. board and have always learned a lot form ur active board.
My daughter, Saachi is turning 4 months old next week and I plan to start solids then..right she is on exclusive bf(no bottles).
I want o ask for ur suggestions on what to feed her and how and when and how often. I plan to continue bfeeding her too. I have heard about ragi powder. I was not aware of it for my older one(who is now 7..so have forgotten that experience..i started her with banana..besides we were in India then ..now we r in U.S.). How to give ragi powder and is it available her..any spl. kind to look for?
All inputs are appreciated..please share ur experiences.

i have started to give ragi kannchi for my son (running 6th month) from today.. as my my ped's advice i have prepared as follows:
wash ragi 3-4 times in water and let it to sprout for a day..then just roast it in a dry pan for 5 mts and make it a fine powder.it must be very fine.
at first we must start giving the baby just 5-6 spoons at morning. only once a day.
mix 1 spoonful of powder with 2 cups of water. make sure its mixed well. now boil it for around 20 mts . keep stiring it with a spoon when it boils.
u can add little jaggry or salt for taste. start giving it very dilute. after 10-15 days start giving twice a day , morning and evening.

aparnaa sowmya replied. You can start with rice cereal thats how i introduced solids to my baby.. If Saachi is breast fed it is not required to start solids until 5 months atleast thats what my ped told...Try giving her solids once a day and slowly increase the quantity as well as make it twice day... Raagi powder can be got from the indian store .. check there.. I am yet to give Ragi powder kanji to Dheeksha... I am not sure abt it... may be someone else can help you with how to go abt making one.... Check in with your ped before you begin solids.....
