i want to colour my hair with natural henna.
can anyone give me a home made recipe for a red colour?i once try but it turn orange! nessa replied. Real henna will depart an orangy brownish to deep red color on your hair much like watercolor. If you have light hair, it will deposit more orange.
There is variation between brands of pure henna, so try a strand test.
My recipe is as follows:
2 cups henna powder
Boiling hot water
1/4 cup to 1 cup lemon juice

I add the water and juice then mix to a nice thin paste consistancy. I let sit in the fridge for2-5 days or even put it in the freezer. This allows all of the pigments inside the plant cells to come out and be ready to be deposited onto your hair.
If you have light hair, it may take a few applications to get the result you want. I leave mine in over night for the best results.
