Due Date Club May 2008:Update

Hi all,

Hope you all and your lil ones are doing great!

I went yesterday for my weekly chck up. Baby hasnt engaged even now (38 weeks). Doc has called us again on this thursday and then on Monday. If engagement doesnt happen by then also, they will go for C section on next tuesday (27th).

Keeping my fingers crossed, but one good thing that now at least i know that I will get to see baby in another one week' s time. :-)

have a few question for C section moms:

Please advise for essentials to be carried to the hospital in case of C section (for myself and the baby)

Anything to make myself mentally prepared for the C section. this is the first surgery of my life, therefore m a lil scared.

Any other tips please.

Waiting for your inputs...

Rupali

I had my C-sec delivery done on 10th May, Well I think if you are in a metro city and a good hospital, there is hardly anything special you need to carry. I was given everything from the hospital including gown, breast pads, Big cottor made sanitary pads etc (you may not wish to use Stayfree type napkins for first few days). From my experience I can say that you must carry something to cover your head and make sure you have a pair of Sox. Wear them after your surgery is done. It is important to cover your legs else the bones get weak and you will have pain. Just carry your stuff for your ersonal use like a dress to wear when you are discharged from the hospital, sleepers, specks (If you use), Large size panties and feeding bras and breast pads. For baby, yes you would need
1. Disposable nappies
2. Plastic sheets
3. Cloth sheets to carry baby
4. dresses for baby
5. Cap,sox, blanket Or swaddlers and towel
6. Baby soap, Powder, shampoo, oil etc.
7. Baby feeding tubes. (first 2-3 days the breast feeding does not establish properly so you need to top feed the baby. You should get this from any medical store.)
8. Its good to keep a toilet roll with you. It is useful for both you and your baby.
9. Carry some disposable plates, glasses and spoons etc. It is helpful during your stay in hospital.

I don' t think anything else is required. Don' t worry C-sec is just 30 minutes surgery and no pain at all. The only thing is that it takes longer for a woman to recover than normal delivery. Wish you all the best and do update us about your esperience and the good news.
