Due Date Club April 2004:my birth story

friday night i started getting menstural like pain in my back and it was with contractions. i started noting the timings and it was abt 20mins apart. so it was the initial stage and by morning i had severe pain and there was bloody show. we went to hospital and i was 3.5 dialated. then aftersome time doc broke my amniotic fluid and then the active phase more pain started. i managed to get dialated to 9 without pain medications/epidural. last 1 cm i took small dose of pain medication and got some time to sleep too. that was a big relief. last few cms of dialation from 6 to 10 is real painful.
after that started pushing around 4pm and sebastian was born at 5:24pm. pushing is similar to how u push when u feel constipated.

good luck to all. will check the board in between. sebastian is keeping me awake almost the whole night. so feeling tired.

Nervous

Congrats Tina.
My due date is on 21st april. I am damn nervous abt the pains of labor. My recent sonography shows that my fluid has lessened & the baby is not getting oxygen, this has made me more nervous & tense. Good to hear that ur delivery went normal.

U are realy tuff. U give us strenght. Could u tell us how u manage to deal with pain? which pain medication did u use? How much is Sebastians born weight?

thanks maitrali.. abt the labor pain, its ok till u reach half way ie till 5. after that its more intense. i couldnt have made it without my husband and my mum. they were next to me always masaging me and helping me ease the pain. sebastians weight was 7lb13ounce.

Hi Tina, Congrats again and thanks for the update regardless of how busy you should be. I am eagerly waiting for birth stories from everybody. give our love to sebastian. hope to see a picture soon. I also have the same questions on what pain medication you took. also if your baby took to breast feeding without any problem. Its wonderful that you were able to last that long without epidural. Good for you. Take care of yourself.

Tina,

So good to hear your birth experience. Great to hear that u were able to manage the pain without an epidural. Did ur doc mentioned why he didnt wait till the membrane to break naturally than doing it before? Pls also let us know the medication u took in the later stage. How useful was it? does it numb the area or does make u feel drowsy? What abt episiotomy? did u need one?

I know I have fired lots of Q's but pls do answer them when u get time. This is my 36th wk and I think me and selvi are going to be the last ones to go in our grp.

hi mansi

doc suggested that he break the membrane cuz it would speed up the labor and woudnt cause harm to the baby.
medication i took was useful for me as i was kind of exhausted and this helped me to get some sleep. it made me feel drowsy. i had episiotomy. but didnt feel any pain. but the stitches are painful though later.

Thanks for sharing ur birth story inspite of being so busy,hows the feeling of motherhood?well,even i am eagerly waiting for the d day.have got my 38 th week appt and stress test tomm,lets hope all goes well,all the best and take care of urself and sebastian.keep mailing whenever u get time.

Just was wondering what Pain medication you took...was it Demorol or some other thing?
