Due Date Club January 2007:Weight
2006-07-19
Name: Shail

Hi,
I am in my 16th week. I had my regular visit to the gyno 2 weeks back. She checked my weight as a routine thing. But this time it looked like my weight dropped by a kilo.
I was immediately upset but the doctor said there was some problem with the weight machine. Probably she said this so that i dont get upset.
But on the contrary, i felt she should have told me the truth and asked me to take remedial measures...
My tummy is growing and its begun to show..although i am not sure whether my weight has droppped or not...i need to confirm this by cross checking. Diet wise i am eating regular food/snacks and also fruits...
Has anyone else faced this situation...or is it normal that there is a varying change in weight ?

Regards
Shail

two things shail,
your Dr. won't try to say machine is at fault if it's not.
loosing a pound while you know you are on balanced diet and showing well with tummy,
you should not be concerned, no way you can relate your case with others, just because each case is different, sometime you can't relate two pregnancies of same girl then how can we relate you with other.

you can take weight by yourself in other place, to sway your concern and doubt of Dr. not telling fact about weight machine.

you will soon have an ultrasound and you will know the well being of your baby where you will confirm that everything is fine with your baby.

loosing weight in first trimester is completely normal, you should however continue to gain from here onward.

Hello Shail,
I am 17 weeks pregnant and had lost 2 kgs during the last few weeks but the doc told its nothing to worry much as the baby is getting the nutrition it needs. I was losing weight due to nausea which is still continuing for me. I hope we will start gaining weight by week 20. Do not worry and eat well.

Hi Shail,

Nothing to worry. In the initial weeks, the weight fluctuates. Dont worry at all. Keep a cool head n enjoy your pregnancy.

Take care,
Subashini.
