Hi Neha,

I have never heard of a doctor or anybody say that folic acid is not needed for baby.

Folic acid is usually recommended by doctors for avoiding anemia in the mother and for production and maintainance of new cells. This is very important during pregnancy.

If you want to stick to natural sources, you can get breakfast cereal with folic acid or eat tomatoes, spinach, corn etc.

I believe that there is some upper limit on how much supplemental folic acid is safely allowed but that is best determined by a doctor. Talk to one doctor that you trust. Too many of them will only confuse you :).

I feel more comfortable taking all my vitamins regularly so that I am assured that I did not miss any vitamins for a day even if I occasionally missed taking them in my daily diet. Hope that helped.
