Hey everybody... My doctor told me that my baby will be here any day. I could not write all this time bec. I have high blood pressure and I am asked to take complete bed rest. I have to make a decision soon about work. I do not know whether I should resign or wait till the baby is here and then decide...My company anyway is firing lots of people...So , can anybody give me some feedback...anything about ur expereinces..and I am working in the US...

I think you can wait and decide. This way you can avail the sal and benefits during your maternity leave, take additional family leave couple of months and then decide. When somebody is in maternity leave, in US, by law, they can' t be laid off. So you are safe.

But I should say it was difficult for me with my first one to go back to work while still breastfeeding etc. Every mom is different, some feel they need a change from baby stuff and prefer to work. I felt first year it is better for any mom to stay home since it is the most enjoyable period of having a baby(there is no better reason to stay home). But I never did that, took all the stress of leaving the baby with grandparents or babysister and now daycare. Again it depends on the child also, my daughter misses me so much until now, she hates to part me every morning that aches my heart every day. So think of your exact situation, consider your child' s nature and take time to decide. Whatever decision you take I' m sure it will be the best one for your child.
