Due Date Club February 2003:Worried!! - pls help
2002-06-28
Name: Debi

Nice to join this club. My due date is Feb'2003. I am in my 2nd month of pregnancy.

I am vomitting all the time - and can not eat much. Whatever I eat comes out. I am taking regular prenatal vitamins, though.

Will my baby be affected , since I am not eating much? What kind of food I should take during this time? What else you all recommend to have a healthy baby? I am alone here with my husband - no advise from any experienced person.

Pls share your experiences. That will be helpful.

thanks in advance.

Hi Debi,
Welcome to the club.
I too used to have nausea and vomitting and i used to vomit almost everyday. It was water and fruits like water melon which was causing vomitting feeling most of the time.Find out what causes vomitting feeling for u.I used to have water very little at a time but frequently and this helped me.Food smell too was causing nausea for me and i couldn't eat much too.I was just eating the half the quantity of what i used to eat earlier becos of nausea.I was worried too becos i was losing weight and i had gone down to 40kgs !Now that am in my 14th week and nausea has reduced a lot and i don't vomit ! Am able to eat properly and gaining weight too.Talk to your doc if vomitting is too much doc may prescribe some medicine for u.By the way , i used to keep a lime piece with me whole day and that was doing wonders for me.I used to take it with me when we used to go out too.

Hi Debi,

Congratulations to both of your first of all.

Vomitting and nausea are normal in first 3 months of pregnancy. Though I didnot vomitted everyday, I suffered a lot with nausea.

You should try to avoid oily and fried food, avoid things which makes you nauseated. Donot eat stomach full, instead of 2 full meals try to divide them into 5 small meals. Also if you feel nauseated early in the morning, drink water and eat few crackers as soon as you wake up, this will help.

Also, donot keep your stomach empty and take enough rest.

And if you vomit more (4-5 times a day)then please contact your doctor, he/she can prescribe you tablets.

All the best and enjoy.

Welcome to this board.

I would like to share with u the experience of my wife. It was just the same as u say. She vomitted all the time and wat ever she ate would come out. Id suggest that there is nothing 2 worry. all u need to do is eat the rite things and get proper medication.

Eat lite things like puffed rice (mumra) , crackers. Look out for triggers , like cheese in aarti's case .

she was also asked to have doxinate, 2 pills at bed time and one in morning if nausea is still severe. This was prescribed by her gynac and it worked well with her. id suggest u check this up with ur gynac.

keep us posted. aarti is due in aug.

Hiren
