hi,
Im meera,i have posted topics reg my family life in other forums in india parenting.
Im eighth month pregnant.I have been in constant stress all round my pregnancy. Its relationship issues, like issues concerning my DH,MIL,SIL.Though im not getting into details,i was in stress half the time bcoz even my DH dint support me at any time when i needed him.
Now my concern is wat effect will my fetus have bcoz of my stress.I had so many dreams abt my pregnancy, like i have to be happy and relaxed, read gud books, hear gud music, eat well..but nothing worked out the way i wanted. Also im eight months pregnant and i have increased only 2kgs weight.I mean for the past two chec-ups, i dint increase any weight, also i lack iron - my hemoglobin count is only 8.4,for which im taking iron tablets. All these conditions also make me more stressed,i mean i feel guilty that i have not taken care of my baby well.
Please anyone let me know if my stress will really affect my baby? i want a healthy, intelligent baby.Even after such a stressful condition, will my baby be a happy person or will be irritated child? Hopefully now im goin to my mom' s place for delivery and will be relaxed from now..Will it be possible to help my baby be born as a happy person, if i hear gud music and read gud books from now on?
PLease some one do answer me positively so that i can relax atleast from now on..

i was under lot of stress during pregnancy because of financial problems and my mother was never there when i needed her.
also she arranged my brother wedding when i was 8th month pregnant. i had to travel all the way to other state to attend his wedding during 8 and half month pregnancy.
my mother was least bothered about me she was more concerned about her sons wedding.
all this issues disturbed me mentally and now even after 7 years i have not gone for second child.

You urgently need to see]k professional help in your town. A qualified Pregnancy Counselor or a Psychologist will listen to you and help you help yourself. No one, not even that person should offer your \" solutions\" because just as your concerns and fears are unique to you, so are the ways in which you will handle them for long term benefit.

Pregnant women who are stressed tend to neglect themselves and spend a lot of time and energy brooding on past issues, hurts, incidents and events, many of which they have no control over. This may result in poor or faulty eating habits, self destructive behaviour and crying spells.

As it is, in pregnancy, because of the hormonal changes, a woman has mood swings and people around her may need to be more caring and sensitive but that does not always happen.
Please ask your doc to urgently refer you to a good psychologist and/or pregnancy counselor. Remember, counselling is for normal people in difficult situations. Nothing wrong with it at all.

Your baby is safe in your body, and eating a healthy diet, doing your prenatal exercises and finding support [friends or your counselor or both] will help you immensely.
Relaxation exercises will also help. Joining prenatal classes near your home will help you as you will meet other pregnant moms and not feel so lonely. If your DH (I assume you mean Dear Husband?!!!) will not come with you, go alone, don' t worry.

Read up on breastfeeding, baby care, child development.... a lot of info is available by way of books and on the net. This will help you look forward in a positive and more practical way.
All the best!
