Due Date Club January 2007:Abdominal Pain
2006-07-11
Name: Pavan

Hi Everyone,
My wife is in her 15th week now.
She feels very hungry suddenly. I understand that this is quite normal. However, whenever she feels severe hunger and is not able to eat something, she also complains about stomach pain.
Today she complained of abdominal pain to the side of her stomach. I called up her doctor to enquire about it. She ssaid pain in the side is ok but pain in the middle should be checked. In any case, I will be taking her to the doctor today?

I want to know if this is normal. Has anybody else had such pain in the abdomen?
Hope there is nothing to worry. :(

Regards
Pavan

Hey Pavan,
I'm in my 19th week now and have been experiencing similar pains myself.
I spoke to my doc and she said these pains can be caused either due to stretching of the muscles or due to gastro erruptions for staying hungry for long. Both of these situations are pretty normal in pregnancy.
So chill.. she seems to be doing just fine :-)

Good Luck!
Manvi.

Hi Pavan,

I have completed 12 1/2 weeks recently and am too facing the same problem. Sharp pain in my lower left abdomen many a times.Unless some bleeding or heavy discharges are there, she need not worry.

Instead of eating only when she gets sharp hunger, better she can have regular meals/snacks every 2-3 hrs based on need. Also,Ask her to take plently of tender coconut water and drink ample water.

Wishing your wife a safe pregnancy!

hunger is normal and pain from that is normal too. she should snack herself whenever she needs it. also hydrate by drinking 10-12 glasses of water per day.
she is facing round ligaments and will be there until she enters in third trimester and thereonward it will be difficult to differentiate between round ligaments and braxton hicks contractions, either are normal.
get this confirmed from her OB.
