Hi,
Is washing baby cloths mandatory before using? How about bedding sets, hooded towels , blankets and receiving blankets?

Now by reading your posts, I feel I should fix a washing day for cleaning my baby's stuff. jenn replied. i feel its better to wash all he clothes including bedding stuff, because baies are sensitve and with their immunity not well developed ,chances are they might catch any infection soon, the stuff we buy from stores might have been touched by so many hands ,, which might not have been clean.and lot of dust might be settled on those things,.thats the reason,, i would definelty go for washing the clothes and everything else.. and not for any superstition .'

jenn sharmila replied. Baby's clothes are washed to remove any chemicals on them that are used when the cloth is made. Some of them may be too strong and harmful to the baby's skin. That is why in India there is a practice of using only used clothes for the newborn. Though they really dont know the logic behind it. Here it is considered a superstition!
So to beon the safer side,it is better to have it all washed......sharmila
